72 Series -- Introduction
 
The 72 series angular contact ball bearings are a high-performance, single-row bearing family designed for heavy radial and axial load applications. They feature a steeper contact angle (typically 25° or 40°) than the 70 series, enabling them to withstand greater unidirectional axial forces while maintaining excellent rotational accuracy and high-speed stability. Available in precision grades P2, UP, P4, SP, P5, and P6, these bearings are constructed from premium chrome steel, offering low noise, high rigidity, and durability to meet the demands of both general industrial and ultra-precision scenarios.

72 series bearings are widely used in high-load, high-precision equipment across industries. They are the preferred choice for CNC machine tool spindles, gearboxes, and hydraulic pumps that require robust axial load capacity, and also excel in automotive transmissions, industrial robot joints, and wind turbine pitch systems. For precision-critical applications, P2/UP/P4 SP grades support medical imaging equipment and semiconductor manufacturing tools, while P5/P6 grades reliably serve textile machinery, printing presses, and air compressors, delivering consistent performance under heavy-duty operating conditions.

72 Series -- Installation Process

  1. Prepare installation tools, including brushes, cleaning cloths, cleaning fluid, vernier calipers, feeler gauges, heaters or installation fixtures, torque wrenches, magnetic bases, and dial indicators.

  2. Clean the installation components and tools using brushes, cleaning cloths, and cleaning fluid.

  3. Mount the bearing onto the shaft using a heater or installation fixture, then install the bearing into the housing. The installation sequence can be determined based on the specific structural design.

  4. During installation, it is strictly forbidden to apply force to the rolling elements. Do not strike the outer ring when installing the inner ring, and vice versa.

  5. Inspect the dimensions of the fitted positions using vernier calipers and feeler gauges, ensuring the correct shaft shoulder depth is achieved.

  6. Tightening method for inner ring end screws and outer ring end screws: Use a torque wrench to tighten the fixing screws in three stages (40%, 70%, and 100% of the standard screw torque) following a "cross pattern" sequence.

  7. After completing the installation of the inner ring and shaft, or the outer ring and housing, verify the installation accuracy using a magnetic base and dial indicator. If any issues are detected, disassemble and reinstall.

  • For designs with lubrication holes, pay special attention to aligning the hole positions during installation.

Lubrication

  • Unless otherwise specified, bearings in this series are pre-filled with grease upon shipment. If customers have specific grease requirements, please state them in the operating conditions form. If oil lubrication is preferred, please also specify this in the form; in such cases, bearings will be shipped without grease, containing only a minimal amount of anti-rust oil.

  • The grease filled at the factory has been pre-run-in. If bearings are stored for an extended period before use, we recommend a run-in period of 20 to 50 revolutions (depending on bearing size) prior to operation.

  • Greases of different brands must not be mixed, as this may cause reactions leading to grease failure. Please pay close attention to this requirement.

  • After prolonged operation, grease may volatilize and degrade. To maintain optimal lubrication protection, replenish with the same brand of grease promptly. Based on varying application conditions, we recommend a replenishment cycle of six to twelve months
